Ovarian cancer is cancer that develops in the female organs that produce eggs—the ovaries. It is the third most common cancer seen in women in India after cervical and breast cancer.
Ovarian Cancer occurs when cells in an area of the body grow abnormally. Ovarian cancer is the seventh most common cancer among women 85-90 per cent of women with ovarian cancer are over 40 years of age with the peak incidence between 55 and 65 years of age.
Types Of Ovarian Cancer
Epithelial ovarian cancer: It is the most common and accounts for 85 percent to 89 percent of ovarian cancers. It forms on the surface of the ovary in the epithelial cells.
Stromal cell ovarian cancer: It starts in the cells that produce female hormones and hold the ovarian tissues together. Familial breast-ovarian cancer syndrome is a common inherited condition that causes 10 percent of all ovarian cancers and 5–10 percent of all breast cancers.
Germ cell ovarian cancer : It is an uncommon form of ovarian cancer. Germ cell cancers start in the cells that form the eggs in the ovaries. This cancer is usually found in adolescent girls and young women, and usually affects only one ovary
Signs & Symptoms of Ovarain Cancer
Pelvic or abdominal pain
Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
Upset stomach.
Constipation.
urgency or frequenc
Changes in a woman's period, such as heavier bleeding than normal or irregular bleeding.
Abdominal (belly) swelling with weight loss.
Stages of Cervical Cancer
Stage I: Cancer is found in one or both ovaries.
Stage II: Cancer has spread to other parts of the pelvis
